What's special about this Master of Arts program?
If you are seeking an M.A. degree in art history and want personal attention from an active faculty, the Art History program at the University of South Florida is an excellent choice. This M.A. program focuses on the study of visual culture, emphasizing critical theory and the development of critical thinking skills.
Valuable practical experience is gained by the M.A. student at USF through teaching assistantships, internships, assistantships at the USF Contemporary Art Museum and the USF Institute for Research in Art/Graphicstudio, and in curatorial positions in the student-run Centre Gallery.
The Contemporary Art Museum features international exhibitions, visiting lectures and symposia; Graphicstudio, an internationally acclaimed fine art studio, is the only university-based program of its kind in the United States, with its complete production archived by the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.
